Some Family Time

BJS has been busy, busy, busy! But among all of the holiday hustle and bustle I have tried to find some time to honor my family. My home and studio has been going through some re-modeling and part of the new digs, will be my family montage wall. In the living/meeting area, we have a substantial wall that has had no use until now. We will be float mounting some rather fine folks (if I dare say) on that great wall. Here are some of the images that I have already began the process with:

After a Birthday Celebration or “What to Drink”

So in celebrating my birthday (no, I won’t tell you how young I am or what day it was!), I sat on the terrace of Mangroves in Ruskin, drinking Chocolate martinis. After quite a few, I asked our waiter if I could get the recipe for this decadent drink. He went to the bartender and collected a full list of the liquers and mix that she uses. The next evening, I wandered into the liquor store and started searching for what was on my list. There were too many choices, so I did one better and devised my own martini concoction. If you like chocolate cappucino, you will enjoy this twist.

The Beckuccino Martini

1 shot Godiva Capuccino Liquer

1 shot 3 Olives Chocolate flavored vodka

1 shot DeKuyper’s Creme de Cacao

2 small shots of half and half

Shake vigorously. Line rim of martini glass with chocolate syrup. Poor. Works best with vodka stored in freezer and liquers stored in fridge.

May want to add a chocolate dipped stirrer for a sweet treat.

Season Begins!

Wedding and portrait sessions start to pick up around this time every year. My first engagement session of the season was with Erin & John. What a fun couple! We met up at the University of Tampa and took advantage of the warm, Florida sunsets to capture some images I am sure Erin and John will love. Just as a sneak peek, here is one from their session!

Engagement Photo

My engagement sessions are governed in the same way I photograph my weddings – as much hands OFF as possible. I try to determine the best area, the best lighting techniques and I may give the couple a general description of what they can do so that I can achieve the best results. For the most part, the posing and expressions are exactly what the couple offers to me with as little intervention as possible.

Thanks Erin and John! I can’t wait for the wedding day!
