If you are like me, you are trying to do your part in going green (on whatever level, just a little helps!). We have saved money after going green with lightbulbs – on average, about a 20KWTh difference from bill -to- bill based on the same month in a 12 month period. Not bad. We are working on other ways – such as my website – which is green (from the server end!).
Where lies the problem? Well, it is difficult to find information on the web for hazardous waste disposal. We had a rough time with our bulbs, in that they quit working after a few months. We think it may be an issue with our outlets. However, that left us a graveyard of spent fluorescent bulbs. And if you don’t already know, these bulbs contain mercury which is a poisonous substance. You cannot just throw away a fluorescent bulb in the garbage. I looked high and low on the web and it took me more than 20 minutes to locate a site that was helpful in locating a disposal facility for me. The site also contains many other helpful tidbits on green living. I had to share!

I am always inspired when attending JCC events – they have the best key note speakers I’ve heard! And funniest! This past event did not let me down – 22 women from different synagogues coming together to be awarded as women in their communities who have donated and otherwise involved themselves within the community for many years. They have helped others and given so much of themselves – I enjoyed meeting these ladies – very empowering!
Here are a few from the event:

I was fortunate to meet 2 great guitarists this past week – Erbie and Don. they brought in 8 of their guitars while we sat up the shoot and all 8 were incorporated into the shoot. Afterwards, they were nice enough to play me a few songs – can’t wait to hear them again! This is one of the images they will use in their promo package.

So, I rolled right into a new year from a busy season. And the new year brought PPA’s (Professional Photographers of America) big annual convention to Tampa this year (Imaging USA). I am in as many seminars as I can stand and walking the trade show every day searching for new vendors, looking up old vendors, getting acquainted with folks, meeting new photographers, meeting photographers who’s name I have known, meeting famous photographers, etc. Whew, it is a busy time. Tomorrow – Tuesday – is the last day of the convention and it will be a relief. Though I love the convention and everything it brings, my feet will be thanking me once it packs up and leaves!
Though, I have had great fun with all of my buds from my forum and my buddy Phillip Lloyd and my new buddy (Phil’s old buddy), Travis Broxton from Denver, Colorado. I’ve made new friends, met new faces, seen some great stuff, got some great stuff – IT’S AWESOME!!!
All of this, in order to bring my clients the best that I can. Today, we took a trolley ride down to Hooters for lunch. See Phil and Travis??? Don’t they look EXCITED??!!
